UI Fashion Week 2016: Backstage

I'm still on the UI Fashion Week 2016: #EasternExposure mood. And it's not a fashion show without backstage documentation. So here it is... a glimpse of how it is like and what really goes on at backstage of UI Fashion Week 2 weeks ago! :)

Special credits to UI Fashion Week 2016 Media Production Team (@raihantheperson) for capturing these pictures.
My biggest hug goes to my Talents, Tenants, Fitters and Make Up Team. Backstage would be such a mess without you guys!
Also thankyou to our top 50 models (also "models") for writing this story together with us.

:)

UI Fashion Week 2016

I have attended just several fashion shows my whole life (but cheers to more in the future, eh? :p), and you can see all of those on this blog. But last week, I was part of UI Fashion Week 2016, a fashion week hosted by Universitas Indonesia students (a.k.a me and my friends, duh). It wasn’t an easy task to do. And definitely wasn’t an instant process. So to start off with, I’d like you to know that most of us have no real knowledge about how a fashion week actually works.

UI Fashion Week is an event under Klub Mode UI, a community where UI students with the same interest towards fashion industry gather and share experiences together. This year, through #EasternExposure, we want to expose eastern fashion by presenting their collection for public to see, as well as educate people to be proud of their eastern identity. Which is why this series of event can be attended free of charge. :) And we are proud to announce you there were more than 30 designers who participated in our fashion shows and bazaar.

To me, attending a fashion week is always a thing to do. A fashion show is an opportunity where artists showcase their designs for public to see. It may seem like an easy thing to do: models walk on the runway wearing the newest collection. But for a designer, it is when they tell a story of their art. The ones they have been working for weeks and even months. Every thing needs and has to be perfect. Because every second of it is their moment of glory (that you don’t wanna screw).

Now imagine we have to manage 12 shows in three days.

It was a lot of energy. And a lot of time. And working with a lot of people with different set of minds wasn’t always the happiest time. Every count down to each show, I could hear every beating heart of everyone who was involved. How we wanted it so much to be perfect. But to see the show full of people...was always our own personal achievement. :) So I’d like to thank everyone who had come and we hope you enjoyed UI Fashion Week 2016 as much as we did.

And as for me, working with my beloved UI Fashion Week 2016 team and partners (and medias, and sponsors) had become such a story to tell. Couldn’t, and wouldn’t have done it without all of you. Here's to our cold morning rehearsals, rude phone calls and chat conversations, and sleepless nights together.

Cheers,

your Creative Director.

Indonesia Fashion Week 2016 Photo Diary

Day 1

I got a blogger pass to attend shows on Indonesia Fashion Week 2016. The event was held earlier this month. I went on the first and third day. This is my second time attending IFW and I felt excited for the shows, especially because of this year's theme, which was "Reflection of Culture". I saw collections from many talented Indonesian designers. I could definitely feel the touch of Indonesian culture on each of the design.  Indonesian local brands and designers today have developed very much than years ago, and it is possible that one day we will be able to compete in the international fashion industry by bringing our culture as our identity. As an Indonesian, it is my jobour jobto preserve our cultural heritage. By attending events like this, we could expand our knowledge about our own culture and local artists. Also it's one of the many ways to express our appreciation to them. The shows are (usually) freeyou just have to queue for invitationsbut you have to pay to get in the venue, unless you have a pass. But I think for the amount of money we have to pay, it is more than worth it. Make sure you attend IFW next year (I think it would be around February/March). Visit the website here to see more.

Enjoy the photo diary.
